Stillwater reminds residents of snow removal responsibilities (hometownsource.com) — Stillwater residents are being reminded that they must clear snow and ice from their own driveways, sidewalks, trash pickup areas, and nearby hydrants, and avoid shoveling snow back into streets. The city also enforces an odd-even winter parking rule from Nov. 1 to April 1, with vehicles required to switch sides by midnight or risk tickets and towing. 
2. Canton man sentenced to three years for wire fraud, money laundering (argusleader.com) — A Stillwater-based insurance firm, Student Assurance Services, is at the center of a major fraud case that led to a South Dakota businessman’s three-year federal prison sentence. Prosecutors say he kept more than $1.4 million in student-athlete insurance premiums, prompting civil suits including a Stillwater-linked claim worth about $700,000, while also losing his insurance and gaming licenses.
3. Inside a Closing Minnesota Prison, a Radical Shift in How Inmates Live (governing.com) — Minnesota’s Stillwater prison is piloting an “earned living unit” that gives selected inmates more freedom, self-governance, and access to programs like a tattoo apprenticeship and barbershop as the facility moves toward closure. Officials say the model has sharply reduced lockdowns and may be expanded statewide, even as transfers from Stillwater raise concerns about crowding and safety at other prisons.
4.
