Rain, Thunderstorms Tuesday In Stillwater, Large Hail Possible: NWS
Large hail is the "primary severe hazard" Tuesday for much of Minnesota, though areas could see "a strong tornado or two," forecasters said.
STILLWATER, MN — After several days of nice weather summoned the start of spring in Stillwater, strong storms are set to return to the area Tuesday.
Rain and severe thunderstorms could start Tuesday afternoon and are “likely” after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Washington County and much of Minnesota, as well as western Wisconsin.
The “primary severe hazard” for the region under the hazardous weather outlook is large hail, while there is a chance for tornadoes, “including a strong tornado or two,” Tuesday evening in south-central Minnesota, the NWS said.

There is an 80 percent chance of rain Tuesday night in Stillwater, with up to three-quarters of an inch expected, according to forecasts.

Rain could continue until Wednesday afternoon in Stillwater, though there is also a 20 percent of rain and snow early Thursday morning, the NWS said.

Forecasts also show a chance of rain and snow showers Thursday and Sunday in Stillwater.

Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Low around 43. East southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming south southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 p.m., then a slight chance of rain between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 41 by noon. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

A slight chance of rain before midnight, then a slight chance of rain and snow between midnight and 2 a.m., then a slight chance of snow after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
