Snow, Slush To Stick Around Stillwater A Little Longer: NWS

Forecasts show there is a slight chance of rain and snow for much of the next week in Stillwater.

STILLWATER, MN — The spring equinox was more than a week ago, but winter does not seem to have gotten the memo.

Stillwater woke up Wednesday to a fresh sheet of snow and ice, and the winter weather is set to stick around until Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain, snow and sleet are set to continue falling in Stillwater throughout Wednesday but could taper off around 11 p.m., the NWS said. Less than half an inch of snow and sleet is expected to accumulate Wednesday in Stillwater.

Thursday is likely to be a slushy mess, with a high near 40 degrees in the National Weather Service’s forecast.

Temperatures could climb into the mid-40s Friday and reach almost 50 degrees Saturday and Sunday, the NWS said, though there is a slight chance of rain and snow Friday night into Saturday morning.

Forecasts also show there is a chance of rain and snow Sunday night through Tuesday.

Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow and sleet before 3 p.m., then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., then rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet after 4 p.m. High near 39. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday night
Rain and snow likely, mainly before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 40. North northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 21. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light northwest after midnight.

Sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

A slight chance of rain before 9 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
