STILLWATER, MN — At least 8 inches of snow fell in Stillwater on Tuesday, according to an unofficial report.

The observation was recorded at 5:30 p.m. and reported to the National Weather Service.

  • Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport: 8.4 inches
  • Chanhassen NWS Office: 5.3 inches
  • Eau Claire, WI NWS Office: 1.5 inches

Looking ahead, Minnesotans will ride a temperature roller coaster before the cold air settles in.

"A week of up and down temperatures are on track as we wrap up Meteorological Fall and begin Meteorological Winter," the NWS said.

"Cold air settles in behind our departing snow system tonight into Thursday morning before a brief warm up through Friday. Another cold front will send temperatures into the single digits Friday night and we'll struggle to hit 20 on Saturday."
