Analytics website Niche handed out letter grades to towns and cities for their level of crime and safety.​

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL METRO AREA, MN — One of the top factors that play into the desirability of a certain town or neighborhood in Minnesota is how safe its residents living there feel.

As part of its 2023 "best places to live" list, analytics website Niche handed out letter grades to towns and cities for their level of crime and safety. The suburbs of Medina, Deephaven, and Bayport were given "A" grades in the new report.

  • Population: 6,654

Violent and property crimes (calculated annually per 100,000 residents)

  • Assault: 14.3 (282.7 national)
  • Murder: 0 (6.1 national)

  • Robbery: 0 (135.5 national)
  • Burglary: 71.7 (500.1 national)
  • Theft: 789.2 (2,042.8 national)
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: 57.5 (284 national)
