Winter Weather Advisory Issued Tuesday In Stillwater

Many Minnesota counties are set to be under a winter weather advisory through 9 p.m. Tuesday, including Washington County.

STILLWATER, MN — The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Tuesday for Stillwater, with snow and ice set to hit southeastern Minnesota.

Forecasters are predicting several inches of snowfall by Tuesday evening and a chance of ice accumulation that could cause slippery road conditions and impact the Tuesday night commute.

Many Minnesota counties, including Washington County, are set to be under a winter weather advisory through 9 p.m. Tuesday. A hazardous weather outlook was also issued for much of the state Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said snow will develop across Minnesota on Tuesday before pushing into Wisconsin. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 3-5 inches in central Minnesota, while up to 2 inches could fall in eastern Minnesota, the NWS said.

Forecasters are also calling for much colder temperatures for the rest of the week.

Tuesday
Snow before 4 p.m., then snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle. High near 24. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday night
A 20 percent chance of snow between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around -3. Wind chill values as low as -12. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest 10 to 15 mph in the evening.

Wednesday
Increasing clouds, with a high near 8. Wind chill values as low as -14. West northwest wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday night
Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 5. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph.

Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 18. Calm wind becoming south southeast around 5 mph in the morning.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 2. South wind around 5 mph becoming north after midnight.
