3 Pulled From Icy Lakes In Woodbury, Including Teenage Boy: Officials

First responders could not immediately rescue the boy, who went under the water and ice before they arrived, according to authorities.

WOODBURY, MN — Three people — including a teenage boy — were rescued from two lakes Monday in Woodbury, according to authorities.

A person called 911 around 4:30 p.m. to report a child had gone through the ice on Markgrafs Lake, authorities said. When first responders arrived, they learned others had gone onto the ice after the child and fallen through as well, according to authorities.

Two people were rescued from the lake and brought to Regions Hospital, including the teen, who was believed to be the child that initially went through the ice, authorities said. First responders could not immediately rescue the boy, who went under the water and ice before they arrived, but he was later recovered, according to authorities.

The conditions of the two victims were unknown by authorities as of 7 p.m.

A man was also rescued around 11:15 a.m. from Wilmes Lake after falling through thin ice, according to authorities.

“Minnesotans should be wary of thin ice on lakes and ponds,” Woodbury officials said in a social media post.
