7 Woodbury Schools On MN’s Weekly Coronavirus Outbreak List

WOODBURY, MN — The number of Woodbury schools on the Minnesota Department of Health’s list of facilities with recent coronavirus outbreaks has grown considerably over the past two weeks.

Seven Woodbury schools were included on the list Thursday, up from four schools Nov. 4.

East Ridge High School, Saint Ambrose Catholic School, New Life Academy and Woodbury Leadership Academy have appeared on the list for several weeks.

Three South Washington County elementary schools were added to the list over the past two weeks: Liberty Ridge, Royal Oaks and Valley Crossing.

The COVID-19 data dashboard for South Washington County Schools shows there have been 129 total coronavirus cases this academic year across the district's four high schools, as of Nov. 11. That’s up from 90 cases two weeks prior.

The number of Washington County schools with recent coronavirus outbreaks continues to grow as Minnesota deals with one of the worst case spikes in the U.S. There were 30 Washington County schools on the list Thursday, four more than two weeks ago.

Thursday’s coronavirus outbreak list included 742 Minnesota schools, 103 more than on Nov. 4.

A school is considered to have an outbreak when it reports five or more confirmed cases of the virus in students or staff who were in the building while infectious during the most recent two-week reporting period.

Schools on the list may not have ongoing transmission, according to MDH officials. Schools are removed from the list after 28 days without any new cases.
