Afton Art in the Park Set for This Weekend

The Afton Area Business Association is pleased to announce the 34th annual Afton Art in the Park, September 22 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and 23 (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), 2012. 

The event takes place in Afton Town Square, located on Afton’s main street (St. Croix Trail) across from Selma’s Ice Cream Parlour.

This 2-day, outdoor fine arts and traditional craft fair includes over 75 vendors showcasing fine arts, pottery, woodwork, jewelry, photography, sculpture, fiber and more.  Several new artists from across the Midwest will join the show as well as many returning “crowd favorites”

While browsing the fabulous art, guests may enjoy delicious food onsite including smoothies, tacos, Greek and Chinese food, gluten-free products and more. The event also features a small business fair, a Fat Tire beer garden located in front of the Afton House.

Live folk/jazz music from the park band shell will delight guests both days. On Saturday, Kenzie Joy will play from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by Amy and Adams from 1 pm to 4 pm. On Sunday, the popular band Patchouli takes the stage from noon to 3 pm.   

New at Art in the Park—Kids Art Korner, Pet Stop Area and More!  

Art in the Park is excited to announce the first ever Kids Art Korner, presented by Learning RX Woodbury, located in the picnic shelter. 

The Kids Art Korner will offer free fall craft activities for children plus face painting, crazy hair and more. Fees may apply to some activities. 

And four-legged guests can visit the new “Paws and Claws Pet Stop” to slurp a cool drink and socialize with friends.  Finally, swing and salsa dance demonstrations and mini lessons, offered by Arthur Murray Saturday at 3:15 p.m., will add even more “sizzle” to the show.
