Carjacking, Armed Robbery Reported Monday Night In Woodbury

No one was injured in the incidents reported Monday night, but "they assuredly (are) emotionally traumatized," Commander John Altman said.

WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury police are warning residents to be vigilant after a carjacking and several armed robberies Monday night in Woodbury and Oakdale.

Police said two cars were stolen between 8:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday in Woodbury.

Three people armed with handguns “forcefully” stole a blue Jaguar sedan from the parking lot of Target, 7200 Valley Creek Plaza, according to Woodbury police. A Honda Accord was stolen after its owner left it running outside a store at 2030 Eagle Creek Lane, police said.

The Jaguar was found overnight by Ramsey County deputies, who were helped by the Minnesota State Patrol and Minneapolis police, Woodbury Police Commander John Altman told Patch on Tuesday morning. The Honda was not recovered, as of 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Woodbury police are also investigating an armed robbery at Chick-fil-A in which a purse and phone were reportedly stolen.

Police do not have a full description of the suspects, as the victims “didn’t get a good look at them” and investigators are still reviewing videos, Altman said.

Winter Parking Rules Take Effect In Woodbury

Initial statements indicate the three people suspected in the Target carjacking were wearing masks, Altman told Patch. They arrived in a 2014 gray Honda Pilot and a black BMW X1, Altman said.

Three people were also involved in the reported armed robbery at Chick-fil-A, Altman said, though it was unclear Tuesday morning if they are the same people.

An attempted armed robbery was also reported Monday night at a Hy-Vee store in Oakdale.

Altman said detectives from police departments around the Twin Cities metro area are collaborating to investigate a string of car thefts and carjackings throughout the region.

The Woodbury Public Safety Department urged residents to “be vigilantly aware of their surroundings” after the string of reported crimes.
