Delivery Driver Shot; Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A Cottage Grove man turned himself in to authorities Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.

COTTAGE GROVE, MN — A Cottage Grove man is facing an attempted murder charge after police alleged he shot a delivery driver Tuesday night.
Otis Shipp, 48, was charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports. Police said he turned himself in on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Officers were called around 10:28 p.m. Tuesday to a gas station at 8490 E. Point Douglas Road by a man who said he was shot while delivering food to a nearby home, police said.

He was taken from the gas station to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with injuries that were not life-threatening, Cottage Grove police said.

Officers learned the shooting occurred at a townhome in the 8700 block of Ironwood Avenue, where they later recovered evidence, police said.
Surveillance footage from the neighborhood showed the driver shouted he was just a delivery driver while running away from the shooting, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.

The footage also showed that the driver was followed after the shooting by a car that belonged to Shipp, the report states. The delivery driver was followed to the gas station after the shooting, but Shipp did not pull into the parking lot, according to the report.
Police from Woodbury, St. Paul Park, Oakdale and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office helped with the investigation, Cottage Grove police said.
