Infrastructure Project To Close Woodbury Road Until Next Summer

Woodbury is laying the groundwork for a new business park in the northeast corner of the city.

The intersection of Hudson Road and Settlers Ridge Parkway reopened Monday to traffic, but Hudson Road remains closed east of Kindeva Drug Delivery’s new global headquarters to Manning Avenue (Highway 95).

WOODBURY, MN — A portion of Hudson Road in Woodbury will be shut down to traffic for much of the next year as construction crews work to make infrastructure improvements for a new business park in the city, officials said.

The intersection of Hudson Road and Settlers Ridge Parkway reopened Monday to traffic, but Hudson Road remains closed east of Kindeva Drug Delivery’s new global headquarters to Manning Avenue (Highway 95).

During the extended closure, crews will grade the road right-of-way to allow for private utility relocations and the installation of city infrastructure, according to a news release.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure using Settlers Ridge Parkway/Lake Elmo Avenue, Manning Avenue and 10th Street. The road is expected to reopen in August 2022.

City officials have touted Kindeva’s new headquarters as the “catalyst” for future commercial development in northeast Woodbury. Kindeva Drug Delivery was formerly known as 3M Drug Delivery Systems.

“While full development of the northeast area is expected to take many years due to the sheer size of the area, the Kindeva project is an important first step toward implementing the economic development vision for this area,” Mayor Anne Burt wrote in October 2020.

The stretch of Hudson Road that will be closed until next summer is also slated to serve a new Amazon distribution center.

The Woodbury Planning Commission in August approved a developer’s proposal to build the facility on a 73-acre site at the intersection of Hudson Road and Manning Avenue.

The developer's proposal was kept under wraps as "Project Belle" during the planning-approval process, but Woodbury officials said earlier this month that Amazon will move into the facility when it is completed next summer.
