Longterm I-94 Lane Closures In Woodbury Begin Next Week

MnDOT plans to resurface the pavement and make upgrades on I-94 in the east metro through the fall of 2024.

WOODBURY, MN — Long-term lane closures on Interstate 94 in the Woodbury area are set to begin on April 17.

Starting Monday, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to two lanes between Woodbury Drive and the St. Croix River.

Another closure is set to begin on April 24, when westbound I-94 will be reduced to two lanes and shifted to the east side of the interstate from just west of the St. Croix River to Woodbury Drive.

The closure and shifts will allow construction crews to repave the lanes over the course of the summer, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews also plan to close the I-94 entrance ramp from Highway 95 (St. Croix Trail) to westbound I-94 from April 24 through late July. A detour will use Highway 95, Hudson Road S., Woodbury Drive, and westbound I-94.

"All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change," transit officials said in a news release.

"MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present."
