MN Teacher Debuts Tuesday As 'The Bachelorette': How To Watch
Thirty men will compete for Michelle Young's attention and affection during the show's 18th season, which premieres Tuesday night.
MINNESOTA — Minnesota native Michelle Young will begin her quest for love as "The Bachelorette" on Tuesday night.
The Woodbury High School graduate and Burnsville elementary school teacher was chosen as the franchise’s next star after fans fell in love with her during Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor.”
Thirty men will compete for Young's attention and affection during the show’s 18th season. Contestants battling for the show’s coveted roses include a former Minnesota Vikings player, a mathematician, personal trainers, firefighters and a “pizzaprenuer.”

During an interview with ET to promote the new season, Young said she is looking to find a relationship as successful as her parents’ and told fans to keep their eyes on Clayton, Jamie and Rodney.
The first episode of the new season of "The Bachelorette" will air at 7 p.m. Central Tuesday on ABC. Much of the show was filmed in the Twin Cities area over the summer, with the trailer featuring clips of downtown Minneapolis and CHS Field in St. Paul.

The show was filmed this summer after Young asked ABC to delay productions so she wouldn't miss time in the classroom with her students, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports. Young missed some of the 2020-21 school year while filming "The Bachelor," the report states.

Young is the second Minnesotan to star as “The Bachelorette,” following Prior Lake native Becca Kufrin. Young is only the third woman of color to hold the lead role in the show, which premiered in 2003.
After graduating from Woodbury High School in 2011, Young studied and played Division I basketball at Bradley University in Illinois.
