Teen Linked To Recent Carjacking In Woodbury: Police

Three people armed with handguns "forcefully" stole a Jaguar from the parking lot of Target on Monday night, Woodbury police said.

WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury police said they “strongly believe” a teen arrested in Hennepin County was involved in a string of crimes in the city Monday night.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16-year-old male this week in connection with another case, and Woodbury police are working to tie him and others to the recent carjacking, thefts and armed robberies.

“Detectives from around the Twin Cities are collaborating to identify other suspects connected with the juvenile that was arrested,” Woodbury police said Wednesday.

Several people with guns also tried to steal a car from a Hy-Vee store in Oakdale, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.

Woodbury Police Commander John Altman told Patch on Tuesday that police did not have a full description of the suspects, as victims “didn’t get a good look at them” and investigators were still reviewing videos.

Woodbury police on Wednesday urged residents to lock their cars, close their garage doors and take their keys with them after a car was stolen from an open garage in the city’s Colby Lake neighborhood. The owner left the keys inside the car before it was stolen, police said.

“It’s important to point out that if your car has a proximity fob and the car is running but the fob isn’t in the car, it can still be driven,” Woodbury police said on Facebook. “It just won’t start again if it is shut off.”
