Unbelted Woman Ejected, Killed In Cottage Grove Rollover Crash
The SUV driver died at the scene after being thrown from her vehicle. The other driver was unharmed, officials said.
COTTAGE GROVE, MN — A Hastings woman died Wednesday afternoon after she was ejected from her SUV in a rollover crash on Highway 61, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. near Kingsborough Trail in Cottage Grove.
Authorities said 43-year-old Crystal Rae Maciewski was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on Highway 61 when it collided with a Hyundai Genesis. The impact caused the Equinox to roll, ejecting Maciewski from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

The other driver, 22-year-old Natalia Jade Hill of Cottage Grove, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, troopers said. Both vehicles’ airbags deployed.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor, according to the State Patrol.
