Woodbury Mayor Anne Burt Launches Re-election Campaign For 2nd Term
Burt said she is focused on delivering "effective and efficient" government to meet residents' needs over the next four years.

WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury Mayor Anne Burt is hoping to lead the city for another four years.
Burt recently launched her re-election campaign, touting her first term as a success and saying she “has the proven background and experience necessary to continue to serve the residents of Minnesota’s eighth-largest city.”
The first-term mayor said in a news release that she is committed to “maintaining Woodbury’s mission” of building a community where residents and businesses “continue to thrive.”

Burt, who has lived in Woodbury for almost two decades, said she wants to lead the city for another four years to “ensure continued strong financial management” of its finances and to “carefully manage growth with strategic and thoughtful planning.”

Woodbury’s population has more than tripled since 1990, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Just over 20,000 residents were counted in Woodbury during the 1990 Census, a number that more than doubled over the next decade to 46,463, census statistics show.
Woodbury has added about 15,000 new residents in each of the past two decades. A 2021 estimate from the Census Bureau put Woodbury’s population at just under 77,000.
Burt said she is focused on delivering “effective and efficient” government at the city level to meet residents’ needs for employment, commerce, recreation, education and transportation.
“My goal is to serve our community to ensure we continue to provide high-quality services so Woodbury’s current and future generations will prosper,” Burt said.

Burt was elected Woodbury mayor in November 2018, succeeding former two-term Mayor Mary Giuliani-Stephens, who did not seek re-election. Burt is just the sixth mayor of Woodbury since the city’s incorporation in 1967.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in business administration at Johns Hopkins University.
No other candidates have yet announced an intention to run for mayor of Woodbury. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 8.
