Woodbury Senior Earns Lacrosse Player Of The Year Title

Conor Hooley is set to lead Woodbury against Stillwater at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the boys lacrosse state tournament.

WOODBURY, MN — Woodbury senior Conor Hooley was named the best boys lacrosse player in the east metro by the Twin Cities Pioneer Press after leading his team to the state tournament in his final high school season.

Hooley is the “unquestioned leader” of the Woodbury High School boys lacrosse team and “took center stage” when his team needed him most while trailing Eagan in the Section 3 semifinal game, the Pioneer Press’ Dane Mizutani wrote.

Hooley delivered a game-changing speech during a timeout to his teammates, who went on to erase a 5-1 deficit before claiming victory in the Section 3 finals several days later, the report states.

“Who’s to say where the Royals would be without Hooley leading the charge?” Mizutani wrote, calling Hooley one of the “top players in the state” after he registered 54 goals and 37 assists during the 2022 season.

Hooley has committed to play lacrosse at Drexel University in Philadelphia, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.

Hooley is set to lead Woodbury against Stillwater at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the boys lacrosse state tournament. The winner of that game will take on Moorhead High School or Benilde-St. Margaret’s School at 5 p.m. Thursday in the state semifinal.
