WOODBURY, MN — A Woodbury woman facing murder charges in connection with her daughter’s death last year is due to stand trial after being ruled competent, according to reports.
A trial for Sadiyo Mohamed, 32, was put on hold in October 2021 after a Washington County judge ruled her incompetent and ordered her to to be committed for six months.
But another judge ruled Thursday that she is now competent for trial, which has not been scheduled, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.

Woodbury police were called at about 12:45 a.m. May 26 by neighbors who said they saw Mohamed chasing her son on the 400 block of Lake View Alcove, according to a criminal complaint against her.
After officers arrested Mohamed, they heard several people yelling about a "dead baby in the street" and found Mohamed's 5-year-old daughter bleeding from her head with a shallow pulse, police said in the criminal complaint. The girl and her brother were taken to Regions Hospital for treatment.
Mohamed was initially charged with assault and attempted murder. That charge was upgraded to second-degree murder when her daughter died several weeks later from her injuries, which included a fractured skull, brain bleed and other serious injuries, police said.
She died June 16 after being taken off life support, according to the criminal complaint.
Mohamed had been civilly committed several times in the past decade to receive treatment for mental illness, the Star Tribune reported last year.

Woodbury police said Mohamed told them when she was arrested that she suffers from mental illness and had not taken her medication for several months, the complaint states.
Mohamed will continue to be held at the Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter awaiting trial, the Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports. Her next hearing is scheduled for July 13, the report states.
