- Hattiesburg City is opening three cooling stations to combat extreme temperatures and assist residents. The stations will be stocked with water and operate from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Friday, with the possibility of an extension. In addition, safety tips and alternative cooling options, such as park events and a splash pad, are being provided by local authorities. (WDAM)
- A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Friday afternoon in Covington County, resulting in the death of Hattiesburg woman. The Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop J Public Affairs Officer, Sgt. Taylor Shows, reported that Dorothy Idom, a passenger, sustained fatal injuries in the crash on U.S. Highway 49. According to Sgt. Shows, the collision involved a northbound 2012 Ford F-150 and a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado from Howard Folkes Road onto U.S. 49. (WDAM)
- A tragic hit-and-run incident in Hattiesburg claimed the life of a local man, identified as 26-year-old Vitaly Drake. The incident occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Front Street on Saturday. Hattiesburg police are actively investigating the case and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward by contacting the authorities directly or reaching out to Metro Crime Stoppers. (WJTV)
