  1. The southbound lane of South 28th Avenue in Hattiesburg will be closed until May 26 for sewer repair. The closure will be between the south entrance of Laramie Circle and Lincoln Road. Drivers will be detoured to Laramie Circle, Hillendale, and then Lincoln Road, while the northbound lane will remain open. (WJTV)
  2. The Hattiesburg Police Department gathered with the family of fallen officer Sgt. David Hue Anthony Sr. to remember him on the 50th anniversary of his shooting death in the line of duty. The event took place at the David H. Anthony, Sr. Fitness-Leisure Park named in his honor. Attendees shared stories about Anthony to commemorate his service as an officer, father, and husband. The department expressed their enduring remembrance and appreciation for the sacrifice made by Anthony and his family on May 23, 1973. (WDAM)
  3. Police are still looking for information about a pedestrian that was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Hattiesburg. The incident occurred on May 18 at the intersection of Edwards Street and Barkley Road. The victim, a male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Hattiesburg Police Department is investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to come forward. (WJTV)

  • Gas prices in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, have remained steady for over a week, providing good news for drivers ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. The current gas price in Hattiesburg is $2.97, which is three cents cheaper than a week ago and more than a dollar less than the same time last year. The lowest gas prices heading into the holiday weekend are in southern states, while the highest prices are on the West Coast. (WJTV)
  • The Hattiesburg real estate market is heating up—but still offers a wide berth of available homes for different budgets. Five more houses just hit the market, including one at $155,000 and another at $592,000. (Hattiesburg Patch)
