NAS Meridian, Lauderdale County sign state's first Intergovernmental Support Agreement (meridianstar.com) — Families and sailors at Naval Air Station Meridian can expect years of road and sidewalk upgrades after NAS Meridian and the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors signed Mississippi’s first Intergovernmental Support Agreement. The deal lets the county handle base paving projects, keeping Navy dollars in the local economy while preparing the installation for new aircraft, more students, and long-term growth.
   

2. Kennedy: Mississippi photographer documents the South (timesfreepress.com) — A Mississippi-born photographer who grew up sneaking Vogue magazines at the Piggly Wiggly in Meridian and shooting $10 portraits through her local Episcopal church is now building a career documenting Southern life. Her upcoming book blends stylized portraits and personal stories to challenge stereotypes about the South while drawing on formative experiences that began here in Meridian.
   

3. Monks March Across West Alabama For Healing And Community (tuscaloosathread.com) — Buddhist monks on a 120-day, 2,300-mile “Walk for Peace” are setting out eastward from Meridian along U.S. Highway 80 despite frigid 21-degree temperatures. They’re heading toward West Alabama today as part of their journey from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C., sharing a message of peace, unity, and kindness with communities along the route.

Faye Gunn Adams (clarkecountytrib.com) — Family and friends are remembering 67-year-old Faye Gunn Adams, who passed away in Meridian on December 10 and was laid to rest following services in Gilbertown, Alabama. Born in Quitman and connected to several east Mississippi communities, she was known for her pies, love of the outdoors, and devotion to her grandchildren.
