Missouri Officer Killed, 2 Others Injured Responding To 911 Call

Authorities were responding to a 911 call where two women could be heard screaming in the background.

CLINTON, MO — A Clinton police officer was killed and two others injured when a person opened fire on authorities responding to a home for a 911 call, according to multiple reports.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that authorities received a 911 call around 9:20 p.m. from a home. The line was left open on the call and two women could be heard screaming in the background, Fox4KC reported.

The officers were shot at from inside the residence at some point shortly after they arrived at the scene, according to the news report. Officers then entered the home and all three of them were shot.

The shooter was found dead inside the home. The two women heard screaming on the 911 call were not injured.

The slain officer was identified as 30-year-old Christopher Ryan Morton. The two injured officers are being treated.
