City Of Springfield: City To Present Battlefield And Lone Pine Intersection Project Plans At October 19 Neighborhood Meeting

The City of Springfield will present plans for future intersection improvements at Battlefield Road and Lone Pine Avenue during a Galloway Village Neighborhood Association meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Galloway Baptist Church (2816 E. Republic Road). A brief update on the upcoming Galloway Widening project will also be provided. Those interested are invited to attend to learn more and provide feedback.
Estimated at a cost of $800,000, intersection improvements to add turn lanes and increase traffic capacity at Battlefield Road and Lone Pine Avenue are anticipated for construction in late 2023.

The widening of Galloway Road to three lanes between Luster Avenue and Lone Pine Avenue is targeted for construction by fall of 2022 with an approximate construction cost of $5 million. The project will include traffic calming roundabout intersections at Luster Avenue and at Lone Pine Avenue as well as new sidewalks, multi-use path and stormwater drainage upgrades.
Both projects will be funded through the ¼-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax, with $1.5 million of the widening project coming from a Governor’s Cost Share Agreement.
