On Oct. 13, 2021, at 4:51 p.m., Springfield Police were dispatched to the intersection of Grant and Commercial regarding a vehicle striking a pedestrian.  

The initial investigation indicates a 2008 Ford Escape was northbound on Grant just north of Commercial.  Larry D. Felton, a 71-year-old male from Conway, AR, was walking on the sidewalk on the east side of the roadway.  Felton left the sidewalk, walked into the roadway and was struck by the Ford Escape. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.   

On Oct. 19, 2021, Mr. Felton succumbed to his injuries as a result of the crash. This week, officers were able to locate and notify his family members. 

Officers with the department’s Traffic Section are continuing to investigate the circumstances involved in the crash and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.
