FTA Recognizes Seven Missouri Transit Providers

The Bus (City Utilities Transit Services) of Springfield was among those providers honored with an FTA Award.

Seven Missouri transit providers were recently recognized by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region VII during the 2023 Midwest Transit Conference.

Seven Missouri transit providers were recently recognized by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region VII during the 2023 Midwest Transit Conference, which was hosted by the Missouri Public Transit Association (MPTA) and held Sept. 6 – 8 in Kansas City. The FTA recognized both rural and urban providers for ridership increases and total rides provided.

Missouri transit providers recognized this year include the following:

  • The Bus (City Utilities Transit Services) of Springfield, Mo., received the FTA Award of Recognition for having the highest urban public transportation ridership among Missouri transit systems that have a population ranging from 200,000 to 1 million.
  • City of Columbia Public Transit (GoCOMO) was recognized with the FTA Award of Recognition for demonstrating the highest urban public transportation ridership increase among transit systems in Missouri.
  • City of Independence (Inde Bus) received the FTA Award of Recognition for having the highest urban public transportation ridership among Missouri transit systems that have a population less than 200,000.
  • Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) was recognized with the FTA Award of Recognition for providing over 9 million rides in Region 7.
  • Bi-State Development Agency (Metro Transit) in St. Louis received the FTA Award of Recognition for providing over 17 million rides in Region 7.
  • City of El Dorado Springs Transit was recognized with the FTA Award of Recognition for demonstrating the highest rural public transportation ridership increase among transit systems in Missouri.
  • OATS Transit, which is based in Columbia but provides transportation across 87 counties in Missouri, received the FTA Award of Recognition for having the highest rural public transportation ridership among transit system in Missouri.
