UScellular Sets Teens Up for Success with Career Readiness Event

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 29, 2024) … More than a dozen UScellular associates from Missouri and surrounding states recently gathered to help nearly 50 teen members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield set themselves up for professional success. This effort was part of a Career Readiness Event hosted by the wireless carrier at the Musgrave Unit.

“Our associates really enjoyed the interactive engagement with the club members,” commented Justin Skiles, area sales manager for UScellular. “It served as a valuable opportunity to positively impact our local community by encouraging and inspiring teens as it relates to professionalism and their futures.”

The teens took part in four educational and interactive sessions. This included: a What to Wear fashion show encouraging participants to begin to understand that what they wear and how they present themselves matters professionally; a Catching Eyes workshop explaining the things teens can do to be seen like creating a compelling resume, getting involved in activities so they stand out and how to “wow” people during the interview process; a UScellular Experience demonstration showcasing how businesses work and helping teens explore areas that might be of interest to them; and an Unlock Your Potential through Personal Inventory discussion examining personality traits, skills and other strong suits and how to align attributes with career opportunities.
