July 23, 2021
Weather Discussion: Heat continues to build up a bit more each day. Expect the hottest temps this weekend. The peak heat index will be 98 to 100 Friday afternoon, and then 100-108 on Saturday & Sunday. There's a very low 10% chance for a spot shower to bubble up in this heat, but it's mainly a dry pattern until perhaps Sunday into Monday when a better chance for some scattered showers & storms.
Smoke and Air Quality: You may have noticed how hazy the skies have been. That is due to smoke from wildfires in the western U.S. and Canada. There is no significant impact to air quality so far, but we are monitoring that closely. However, we do have a Code Orange Air Quality forecast for Friday due to low level ozone levels. That is common during the summer months and the Code Orange means air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups, like the very young, elderly or those with respiratory issues.
Friday: High 92. Partly cloudy, hot, and humid. Peak heat index 98 to 100 degrees. 10% chance for a spot shower.
