"Spotlight Student" recognizes achievements in and out of the virtual classroom

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Eri Oluremi of St. Louis was recently named one of Missouri Connections Academy’s (MOCA) β€œSpotlight Students” for the month of October in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the virtual classroom.

Eri, a third grader at the statewide, public online school, was nominated by his teacher, Ms. Burkemper, because of his hard work and outstanding participation in class. As a β€œSpotlight Student,” Eri will receive a certificate of achievement and be profiled in the Missouri Connections Academy student newsletter. Each month during the school year, MOCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

β€œWe appreciate the leadership our students demonstrate and their extraordinary commitment to learning and serving as strong role models for their peers,” said Lynsie Hunt, School Leader at Missouri Connections Academy. β€œThe members of our faculty and staff are proud to give these virtual classroom leaders the recognition they deserve.”

According to Eri’s mother, Esther, they chose to enroll all their children in Missouri Connections Academy because the schedule flexibility enables them to learn at their pace and focus more on the subjects in which they are passionate.

β€œLearning online gives us more control over our learning schedule which has been great for balancing academics with other activities and family time,” Esther said. β€œWe also wanted to provide them with a personalized learning experience that caters to their individual needs.”
