- The Billings City Council is considering a $3.6 million settlement to resolve a nearly five-year dispute over illegal fees charged by the city for water, wastewater, and solid waste services. The settlement would need to be paid back to residents, and the city is exploring options, such as short-term borrowing or a one-time tax increase to cover the amount. The settlement does not include a release of all claims, potentially leaving the city open to future lawsuits. (Q2 News)
- Visit Billings has introduced the Trailhead Treats Pass, offering locals and tourists a sweet way to explore the city with deals and promotions at various stops along the Billings Brew Trail, showcasing Billings' unique food scene. From gourmet doughnuts at Proof Donuts & Coffee to homemade treats at Bernie's Diner, the pass allows visitors to indulge in sugary delights while supporting local businesses. The success of the Billings Brew Trail has inspired the launch of this new pass, further highlighting the city's culinary offerings. (Q2 News)
- The Billings Chamber of Commerce will host its quarterly Chamber A.M. event at the Northern Hotel in Billings, focusing on the State of the City and County, with presentations by Billings Mayor Bill Cole, Yellowstone County Commissioner Don Jones, and Chamber leadership. The event on Jun. 6 will discuss future plans and goals for the region, as well as celebrate achievements, such as LEED Gold City recognition and improvements to the Billings Logan International Airport. - On Monday, volunteers gathered at the Billings Public Schools warehouse to pack 350 meals for students enrolled in the Food Insecurity Program, ensuring they have access to food until the start of the Reading Rocks and free summer lunches in the parks program in June.
