  1. A candlelight vigil was held on Saturday to honor fallen Las Vegas police officer Truong Thai. He was killed last Thursday during a domestic disturbance call. The community gathered at Sunset Park for the vigil. His funeral has been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28 at Central Church in Henderson. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
  2. The Clark County School District Police Department will be using a federal grant to hire additional officers for middle schools. The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Justice and is worth $3.75 million. The grant will cover the costs associated with 30 officers for about three years. The department currently employs about 180 officers. (Las Vegas Sun)
  3. The ongoing carbon dioxide shortage is impacting operations at Las Vegas breweries. The lack of commercially-available CO2, which is required to carbonate beer, is increasing production costs for local brewers, which may ultimately increase the overall price of beer for consumers. Experts say supply chain issues, increased seasonal demand, and maintenance shutdowns are all contributing factors to the shortage. (Las Vegas Sun)
