Las Vegas Police Academy Graduating 34 Wednesday

After Wednesday's graduation ceremony, LVMPD will have added 137 officers since November.

LAS VEGAS, NV - A fresh batch of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers will be welcomed to the force on Wednesday as 34 recruits graduate in a ceremony at The Orleans showroom in Las Vegas. The graduation ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. today.

This graduating class entered the academy on Sept. 26, 2017 and there were initially 45, according to LVMPD. Included in the class is a former Aerospace Foreman and a former Filipino World Cup Snowboarder. There are also graduating recruits native to Cuba, India, Germany, and Mexico. Their ages range from 22-46.

After today, LVMPD will have added 137 officers to the force since November. Other recent graduations added 34 officers in November, 44 in December, and 25 in January. In 2016, the Clark County Commission approved a .1 percent sales tax to fund the addition of over 300 police officers in Clark County.
