1. Federal regulators are investigating Nevada OSHA after Boring Co. citations were suddenly withdrawn (fortune.com subscription) — Federal regulators are scrutinizing how Nevada OSHA handled safety citations tied to Elon Musk’s Boring Company tunnels beneath Las Vegas, after the state abruptly withdrew serious violations following contact with the governor’s office. Investigators will review Nevada OSHA’s files, procedures, and past issues, including earlier concerns raised during deadly construction on the Las Vegas Strip, to determine whether the state’s worker-safety program is meeting federal standards.
   

2. I-15 freeway widening project completed ahead of schedule (news3lv.com) — Drivers in and around Las Vegas now have more room on I-15, with NDOT finishing a $71 million widening project south of the city between Sloan, St. Rose Parkway and Blue Diamond. The freeway now has up to 11 lanes in key stretches, aiming to ease congestion and improve safety for daily commuters and visitors traveling through Southern Nevada.
   

3. Clark County prepares for second annual Missing in Nevada Day event (news3lv.com) — Families in Las Vegas will soon have a dedicated day to seek help finding missing loved ones, as the Clark County coroner hosts the second annual Missing in Nevada Day at UNLV on Jan. 31. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can file new reports, get updates on existing cases, and share records or DNA to aid investigators.
   

4. Local police targeting impaired drivers this holiday season (ktnv.com) — Expect to see more police and state troopers on Las Vegas-area roads through January 5 as agencies team up to crack down on impaired driving during the holidays. The campaign, tied to a new Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force, focuses on removing drunk and reckless drivers to reduce deadly crashes and keep valley families safe.
   

5. Las Vegas Nutcracker dancers find American dream on Smith Center stage (fox5vegas.com) — Las Vegas families can catch Nevada Ballet Theatre’s Nutcracker at the Smith Center through December 28, led by Sugar Plum Fairy Mirella Costa Neto and Cavalier Sergio Alvarez. The pair share how leaving Brazil and Colombia to dance in Las Vegas turned years of sacrifice into a holiday dream on a local stage.
