- A Las Vegas police detective has been arrested for getting into a physical altercation with his girlfriend. Michael Lyons, an off-duty detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, was arrested on Thursday morning near Cimarron and Elkhorn Road. The 33-year-old detective has been booked while the investigation continues. (News3LV)
- New research from the Major Cities Chiefs Association indicates that violent crime in major cities is up. Despite the increase, Las Vegas is still below the national average. The metro area did report a three percent increase in crime this year compared to 2021, however. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- The Great Las Vegas Taco Festival is scheduled for Nov. 4 through Nov. 6. The festival will be held at Craig Ranch Park. All parking entrance fees will go towards the family of fallen officer Trung Thai. The festival dedicates a portion of its proceeds each year to be used to support the local community.
