LAS VEGAS, NV – A man wearing a Michael Myers-style Halloween mask was shot and killed by an officer Monday after pulling a gun in the presence of bystanders, the Las Vegas Police Department told Patch in a statement Thursday.
The department said that the incident began to unfold around 5:19 p.m. Monday after an initial caller told police that a man pulled a gun on him at the Martin Luther King Jr. statue in the North Las Vegas Justice Center on the corner of MLK and Carey.

At 5:39 p.m., dispatchers received a call from a second person who claimed that a man pulled a gun at customers at the Carey Mini Mart before taking to the street, according to the statement.
When the first officer arrived, he “repeatedly asked the suspect to stop, put his hands up, and not reach for his firearm,” the department said in the statement, adding that the officer’s commands were ignored and the suspect proceeded to pull a firearm with “numerous bystanders in the immediate vicinity.”
