- The Clark County Grand Jury has officially approved the murder indictment of Robert Telles. Telles has been accused of fatally stabbing a longtime Las Vegas investigative reporter. The former Clark County Public Administrator's initial arraignment will be on Oct. 26 in front of District Judge Tierra Jones. (The Nevada Independent)
- A Las Vegas child has died after being infected by a rare brain-eating amoeba. The boy might have been exposed to the amoeba while at Lake Mead, according to the Southern Nevada Health District. The infection is incredibly rare — only 154 U.S. residents have contracted the amoeba since 1962. Unfortunately, it is almost always fatal. (Business Insider)
- The nostalgic pop-punk and emo festival "When We Were Young" canceled its opening day due to high winds. The festival was originally scheduled to open on Saturday at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. The National Weather Service forecasted winds with the potential of reaching 60 miles per hour. Ticketholders will be refunded through Front Gate Tickets. (Las Vegas Weekly)
