North Las Vegas police seek help locating missing teen with autism (news3lv.com) — North Las Vegas police are asking residents to help find 14-year-old Peter Ayala-Pigao, a missing teen with autism last seen Monday afternoon near Aliante Parkway and Deer Springs Way. He was walking south on Aliante, wearing all black with black-and-orange shoes, and wasn’t carrying food or a sweater, so neighbors are urged to call 702-633-9111 with any sightings.
   

2. Las Vegas nonprofit launches safety campaign ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations (fox5vegas.com) — As Las Vegas gears up for massive New Year’s Eve crowds on the Strip and Fremont Street, local nonprofit Signs of HOPE is boosting volunteers and pushing its “Party Smart” safety tips to prevent sexual violence. The group urges partygoers to stick with friends, designate a sober person, use rideshares or taxis together, and call its 24/7 hotline at 702-366-1640 if help is needed.
   

3. Las Vegas animal rescue seeks foster families ahead of New Year's Eve fireworks (fox5vegas.com) — Las Vegas pet rescues are urgently looking for foster families before New Year’s Eve fireworks, when loud booms often scare dogs into running away. Pawsitive Difference Pet Rescue says applications through its website are quick, and new fosters could be ready in time to help dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs that may be displaced during the celebrations.
   

4. Fire heavily damages Halal Guys restaurant in Las Vegas Chinatown, nearby businesses affected (ktnv.com) — A pre-dawn fire badly damaged The Halal Guys in Las Vegas’ Chinatown on Dec. 26, drawing about 80 firefighters and leaving neighboring businesses with smoke and water damage and slower sales. No injuries were reported, but the cause is still under investigation and county fire officials and the restaurant’s owners have not yet released updates.
   

5. Las Vegas Strip hotel rooms selling out for New Year's Eve at premium prices (8newsnow.com) — If you’re still hunting for a New Year’s Eve room on the Las Vegas Strip, expect slim pickings and steep prices, with many resorts already sold out. A spot check found remaining rooms ranging from about $230 at budget options to over $1,000 at luxury properties, reflecting strong tourism expectations heading into 2026.
