  1. Las Vegas board-certified gender and reconstructive surgeon Dr. John Brosious is the first in the state to perform gender-affirming surgery. According to TransHealthCare.org, there are only 100 surgeons who perform this specific surgery. Dr. Brosious is looking to change discrimination and mistreatment in the healthcare system by performing reconstructive surgeries and handling patients with care. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
  2. A state lawsuit against drug manufacturers and distributors responsible for the nation's opioid crisis has left Nevada with $35.5 million. The office is turning the money to local governments to fund programs for individuals affected by the opioid epidemic. (News3LV)
  3. A 24-year-old man was sentenced to almost two decades in prison after shooting a server more than 10 times in 2021. Rashawn Gaston-Anderson shot Chengyan Wang during an after-hours robbery when he was at his former position in a Chinatown restaurant. Wang survived the shooting. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)

  • A new blood donation initiative will give donors a complimentary ticket to a show at a Las Vegas casino. The Rio Hotel and Casino is partnering with Vitalant's blood drive to supply a free performance featuring Michael Carbonaro. The initiative is from Dec. 16-23. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
  • The Southern Nevada Health District is recommending residents wear a face covering in crowded public spaces due to the rise of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV cases. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
  • A "sweet" village is now on display in City Hall. Members of the Community Development team did a great job creating the Floyd Sheep Village, a gingerbread neighborhood with special requirements for landscaping, height, and entrances. (City of Las Vegas Government via Facebook)
