LAS VEGAS, NV - The following community events will be taking place in Las Vegas in April and May.
Rainbow Company Youth Theatre Spring Classes
Registration is open through May 9 for classes that begin that day. Classes are seven weeks long and are available in Story Drama for children ages 4-6; Performance Fundamentals for children ages 7-9; Acting Skills for Youth, ages 10-12; and Acting Skills for Teens, ages 13-17. West Las Vegas Arts Center Summer 2018 Class Registration
Registration is available for people of all ages from April 25-May 30 for classes that begin May 30. The classes are eight weeks long and finish on July 21. Classes will be held at the West Las Vegas Arts Center at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

The classes offered are: Kemetic Yoga, African Dance for Children, African Dance for Teens/Adults, African Drum, a number of ballet classes and hip-hop/funk classes.

‘A Little Princess’
The Rainbow Company Youth Theater will put on "A Little Princess" at the Charleston Heights Arts Center at 800 Brush St. Tickets are $6 and shows take place on the following days:
- Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m.
- Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m.
- Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m.
Mother’s Day Dance
The Mother's Day Dance will be held Saturday, May 12 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. Tickets are $15 plus tax. Live music will be performed by trombonist Walk Boenig and his band. For more information call 702-229-2787 or www.artslasvegas.com
The Poets’ Corner
The Poets' Corner has been around since 1997. The forum is for "established poets and open-mic participants." The event is recommended for ages 17 and older, due to some content.
The event is free to the public on Friday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Arts Center at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
HaleAmanO & The Delirians
Tickets are $10 plus tax for a night of reggae, R&B, and roots-style music at the Charleston Heights Arts Center at 800 Brush St. The event is Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m.
Sankofa: Book & Literature Series (ages 10 and older)
This will be the fourth installment of the Sankofa series presentations. The event will take place from Saturday, May 26 at 2 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Arts Center Community Gallery at 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
It is free and open to ages 10 and older.
StorySlam: ‘My Best/Worst Summer Job’
Vouge Robinson, Clark County Poet Laureate, will moderate a story-telling evening as people share their best and worst summer job stories. The event is Saturday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. Attendants are asked to pay what they can.

Exhibitions
Hearts4Vegas Touring Exhibition
An exhibition of items collected from friends, family, and loved ones memorializing the Oct. 1 shooting. The exhibit is open right now through May 27 from Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mirabelli Community Center on 6200 Hargrove Ave.
The exhibition will move to the Durango Hills Community Center from May 29 through August 31 and will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Ward 4/YMCA Healthy Kids Day
Activities include childrens' Zumba, relays, and arts and crafts. The event takes place on Saturday, April 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Durango Hills Community Center on 3521 N. Durango Dr. Call 702-240-9622 for more information.
Ward 5 Movie in the Park
Disney's "Coco" will play at the Sammy Davis Jr. Plaza in Lorenzi Park at 720 Twins Lakes Dr. on Saturday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m.
Free drinks will be provided while they last. Attendants are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Councilman-elect Cedric Crear will be available to meet residents. Call 702-229-5443 for more information.
Ward 3 Movie in the Park
Disney's "Coco" will play at Stewart Park Place at 4700 Chantilly Ave. on Saturday, April 28. The movie will being at dusk. Raffle prizes, popcorn, and water will be available. Call 702-229-6405 for more information.
