- Redwood Materials has begun the process of receiving a $2 billion loan from the Department of Energy to develop its battery recycling and manufacturing facility to the east of Reno. The federal loan is part of the government's push to increase the battery supply chain for electric vehicles here in the U.S. Nevada officials were present at the announcement of the loan at Redwood Materials, and state government officials said they are optimistic that the investment will benefit the future of the local and state economy. - Make the Road, a nonprofit that focuses on helping immigrants with various issues, held a grand opening for their new Reno office last weekend. The organization opened its Las Vegas office in 2017 and has offices in four other states. (This Is Reno)
- Ten first responders from various local agencies were honored during the annual Heroes with Heart banquet held this past Thursday. The event was hosted by the Trauma Intervention Program of Northern Nevada, a nonprofit that helps assist those experiencing emotional trauma after emergencies.
