Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. Nevada DMV locations in Reno will now be requiring appointments. The walk-in services will be eliminated beginning next week. The policy change is due to ongoing staffing shortages coupled with increased customer demand. The department is hoping that the policy change will encourage residents to use their online services. (Nevada Appeal)
  2. The Washoe County Health Department has confirmed its fourth Monkeypox case. The newest case is reportedly a man in his 40s that had close contact with a previous Monkeypox case. The department reports that the vaccine is still in limited supply and is reserved for confirmed cases and close contacts. (KOLO)
  3. The City of Reno reports that it will be keeping records as it transitions to a new searchable system. The city received significant backlash after information was shared that records older than three years would not be kept after the transition. The city will also be adding additional features to the new system such as including records for boards, commissions, and public meetings. (This Is Reno)
