1. Developer withdraws plan for 104-foot cell tower in west Reno (rgj.com) — A controversial 104-foot cell tower proposed for west Reno, near Mayberry Park and the Truckee River, has been withdrawn after residents objected to its height and visual impact. The developer plans to resubmit a design 55 feet or shorter, which could be approved by-right, though neighbors would still have a brief window to appeal once a building permit decision is made.

2. H.E.A.T. Unit operation nabs men attempting to buy sex from minors in Reno (mynews4.com) — Reno police say six men were arrested in a recent two-day H.E.A.T. Unit operation targeting adults who believed they were meeting minors for sex at a local property. The multi-agency sting involved Reno, Sparks and school district police, and investigators are urging parents to watch for online grooming warning signs while asking anyone with information to contact the H.E.A.T. Unit or Secret Witness.

3. Wolf Pack women's soccer gets new head coach (2news.com) — Reno’s own University of Nevada women’s soccer program has named Jeremy Evans, a highly successful coach from Lake Tahoe Community College, as the new Wolf Pack head coach. Evans brings a dominant conference record and strong regional ties, with athletics director Stephanie Rempe touting his work ethic and vision to build a championship-caliber program in Reno.

4. NV program helps teens with disabilities become advocates (thisisreno.com) — Reno teens with disabilities can join a statewide Youth Action Council that already includes local representatives and meets monthly to build advocacy and leadership skills. The council, run through Nevada’s independent living network, helps young people navigate adulthood, influence disability policy, and connect with peers, and it welcomes Reno residents 14 and older who want to support the disability community.
