"Making the decision to switch to solar should be as effortless as possible," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "I am so proud of this designation for the City of Reno, as it illustrates our commitment to creating diverse job opportunities, while also protecting our environment."
To receive the designation, cities and counties evaluate and make changes to their local processes to reduce the time and money it takes to install a solar energy system. For the City of Reno, this includes installing solar photovoltaic (PV) on local government facilities, codifying in the zoning ordinance that accessory use solar PV is allowed by-right in all major zones, offering financing options such as a C-PACE program, posting an online checklist detailing the City’s requirements for small rooftop solar PV and more.
