B.5 - Acceptance of Sub-Grant from the Nevada Department of Veterans Services

Council accepted a sub-grant award from the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) to support the City of Reno's Annual Military Sports Camp to be held September 2022 in the amount of $20,595.

Background: The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS), in Reno, Nevada, provides primary and secondary care to a large geographical area that includes 20 counties in northern Nevada and northeastern California. Approximately 120,000 veterans reside in this region, with Reno representing the largest urban area. The NDVS  applied for and received a United States Department of Veterans Affairs Adaptive Sports Grant to support the City of Reno's Annual Military Sports Camp, which provides a variety of recreational activities including adaptive bowling, water skiing, archery, water sports, sled hockey, wheelchair rugby, rock climbing, and mountain biking. See a news release with more information on the award.

C.1.1-C.1.3 - Plumb Lane Business Park

Council approved the Planning Commission’s recommendation to adopt a Master Plan and Zoning Map Amendment on a +/-6.2 acre site. The site consists of seven parcels located on the west and east sides of Yori Ave. between East Plumb Lane and Casazza Drive. While no specific project was identified or part of the request, the change from a Public Facility zoning to General Commercial and Professional Office designation creates the potential to generate new jobs and businesses, adding to the vibrancy of Plumb Lane and surrounding areas. Final approval requires a second reading by the City Council and approval of the Master Plan amendment by the Regional Planning Commission.

F.1 - Offenses Against Property Ordinance Adoption

Council adopted an ordinance amending Title 8, Chapter 8.10, of the Reno Municipal Code entitled “Offenses Against Property,” creating new Ordinance RMC8.10.110 prohibiting possession of a catalytic converter unless otherwise permitted.

F.2 - Authority of Park Rangers Ordinance Adoption

Council adopted an ordinance amending Reno Municipal Code Title 8.23, “Parks and Recreation,” Chapter 8.23.035 “Authority of park rangers,” to provide for expansion of jurisdiction from only parks and recreation facilities to also include all city trails, open spaces, and public property within 350 feet of the shore of the Truckee River within city limits.

F.3 - Ward Boundaries and Official City Map Ordinance Adoption

Council adopted an ordinance selecting Map Option D, revising the City's official map and ward boundaries. The new ward boundaries will take effect on January 1, 2022. Check out the new ward map to see which ward you live in.
