- Authorities have identified the pilot that died during Sunday's Reno Air Races. Aaron Hogue, 61, died when his plane crashed during the third lap of the Jet Gold race. He was from Paso Robles, California, and had been flying planes since he was 16 years old. The crash is currently under investigation. (KRNV)
- The University of Nevada, Reno has closed its longstanding Wolf Pack Meats facility. The university is seeking an outside business to take over operations. The reason for the closure is reportedly financial instability at the slaughterhouse and meat-processing facility. (This Is Reno)
- A controversial medical waste company is now building in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Stericycle, which has been fined millions by the EPA and the Utah Division of Air Quality, has shut down its Salt Lake location and is now rebuilding. The new plant will include two medical waste incinerators. The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection reports that the new plant will not be burning human waste. (My News 4)
