Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. The Reno Police Department performed a DUI saturation patrol on Saturday. The patrol arrested eight drivers, issued 14 citations, and delivered 30 warnings. The department is reminding the community to drive sober. The patrol was funded by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety. (KOLO)
  2. A Reno area company will be producing renewable diesel. New Rise Renewables Reno will produce about 44 million gallons of triglyceride oil diesel fuel each year. The oil is sourced from corn. The new fuel will reportedly save nearly 880 million pounds of carbon from being emitted into the environment. (Carson Now)
  3. Reno's Hammond family is demanding stricter laws after their child died during a 2019 bounce house incident. The structure was blown into power lines during a strong gust of wind. The 9-year-old girl was in the bounce house when the incident occurred. The family started the Elizabeth Hammond Foundation nonprofit that is pursuing legislation that regulates bounce house businesses. (MeAww)
