Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- The Reno City Council met on Aug. 10 to discuss a variety of issues. The council approved the purchase of new vehicles and equipment for its fleet. The new acquisitions will not exceed $5 million. The council also awarded a $4.7 million contract to Granite Construction Company for the Dry Creek Restoration project. The meeting's full agenda can be viewed at the link. (Press Release Desk)
- Reno Public Market has announced a late October opening date. The new space at the corner of Plumb Lane and South Virginia St. will host over 18 local food vendors. The 20,000-square-foot space will also host Maker's Paradise Art Collective and a number of local performers. KRNV shared a list of announced vendors. (KRNV)
- A University of Nevada, Reno student founded a new program called Financially Fit Employees. The program is meant to attract businesses while retaining qualified employees in the Reno area. Several businesses in the area are implementing the program. The businesses are reportedly investing in employees while educating them on retirement options. (KOLO)
