Here are the top three stories in Reno today:

  1. Reno's first Native American-owned coffee shop, Star Village Coffee, is now open. The shop opened its first physical location at a site on Mill and Park streets. Star Village Coffee has been selling beans to coffee shops for years but has never had its own physical location. Owner Joel Zuniga plans to use the location to further invest in small businesses in tribal communities. (FoxReno.com)
  2. The Reno City Council interviewed Ward 5 finalists yesterday at 3:00 p.m. The interviews had to be postponed due to not having a quorum. Councilwoman Jenny Brekhus is still boycotting the Ward 5 selection process. The three finalists are Alex Goff, Elliot Malin, and Kathleen Taylor. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  3. The Reno Police Department has released a photo of a suspect involved in an Atlantis Casino shooting. The incident occurred on Jun. 3 in the casino's parking lot. The responding officers located a victim with gunshot wounds at the scene. Anyone with information about the suspect in the photo is asked to contact the department. (KKOH)

Today in Reno:

  • Financial Advisory Board Meeting At Reno City Hall (3:30 PM)
  • Civil Service Commission Meeting At Reno City Hall (3:30 PM)
  • Rockaroke At Virginia Brewhouse (Doors: 9:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Washoe County is asking the community to donate new fans to the Washoe County Senior Center. The fans can be dropped off between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The fans are necessary to help the elderly combat the record heatwave. (Washoe County, Nevada - Government via Facebook)
