  1. After about six hours, Reno residents who live on Cranleigh Drive were able to return to their homes after a gas leak prompted an evacuation. This past Friday around 4:30 p.m., the Reno Fire Department responded to a leak caused by a gas pipe being broken when hit by an excavator digging. Thankfully, NV Energy was also able to respond to the scene and clamp the broken pipe in a few hours, and residents safely returned to their homes after they were checked and ventilated. (KRNV)
  2. Members of the Coral Academy Engineering Club in Reno were able to get a new lesson on aerospace as they successfully launched a weather balloon in late April. The club of 11 students and two teachers worked for nearly four months on a weather balloon, which they launched into the air on Apr. 29. The balloon flew for nearly three and a half hours, hitting heights of over 100,000 feet and temperatures as low as negative 34 degrees Fahrenheit; it traveled 51 miles from its take-off destination and safely landed east of Fernley. (KRNV)
  3. Investigations are now surrounding former Reno Middle School Teacher Jose Flores-Montelongo, who has been indicted by a jury on multiple sexual misconduct charges. He was arrested last year based on allegations made by one of his former students; once he was arrested a second alleged victim spoke up claiming sexual misconduct as well. Flores-Montelongo is set to face trial in June 2024. (KTVN)
