- A memorial for the Care Flight crash victims will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center on Mar. 8. A few weeks ago, a Care Flight broke apart midair and crashed in northern Nevada. Passengers were identified as Scott Walton, Ryan Watson, Ed Pricola, and Mark and Terri Rand. The service will begin at 2 p.m. and those who knew the victims are encouraged to share photos or memories here. (KRNV)
- The second annual "Hammers & Hope" event will be held today, Mar. 6 at Reno City Hall starting at 10 a.m. The event will be held in honor of Women's History Month and National Women in Construction Week. The Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) will host the event to introduce and highlight construction jobs available for women in the Reno community. There will be panel discussions with industry experts and opportunities for attendees to speak with representatives. (KOLO)
- The City of Reno previously received $28 million in federal COVID-19 relief, and now city officials are set to begin approving project proposals. The funds must be spent by 2026. So far, $1 million has been planned for use to cover the expansion of the Village at Sage Street, and $3 million will be spent to improve city parks and provide Reno Police with body cams. The council will meet Wednesday, Mar. 8 at 10 a.m. to discuss other proposed funding projects. (Subscription: This Is Reno)
